The Submssion Gift by Solace Ames

The Submission Gift - Solace Ames

Love is a funny thing. It's not always "Happily Ever After. The End." but a journey you take with another person.

Jay and Adriana are lovers. I use this term because they're not just "in love" with each other they are actively loving each other. Jay had been injured in an accident, the bills were mounting and Adriana was working overtime to cover everything. Stress that might break any relationship but the two of them struggled to go through it together. They have a passionate and satisfied sex life but they both understand that they have other needs where their sexualities are concerned. Enter Paul, a Dominant and bi-sexual sex worker.

This is also the story of broken people. Jay is unemployed and recovering from his accident, Adriana is brittle from a hostile work environment and Paul is atoning for past mistakes. After a financial windfall, what starts out as a purely pay for sex (and temporary) relationship becomes more. Paul is a piece of the puzzle Jay and Adriana didn't know they missing. And Paul, in turn, feels as if he has been given a chance at love in these two. I loved the relationship between the three of them. Paul was able to fill a void in Jay and Adriana's lives and vice versa.

Oh, and the sex was hot. It rant the gamut of sweet and loving to kinky and dirty.

All in all I enjoyed the book. Some parts didn't seem fully polished or fleshed out. Particularly for me the antagonism that Adriana faced at the restaurant and the characters in Paul's seedy Las Vegas past. I had a hard time remembering the name of Adriana's kitchen nemesis and his specific transgressions. Paul's past didn't seem to haunt him much until near the end of the book. And even then it didn't seem to affect him in the present.

Otherwise it was a very enjoyable read that explored the issues and needs of non-heteronormative characters. This is something that can't always be approached well in romantic fiction but I feel that it was in this book. The author has a singular voice in this genre and I am eager to see what she produces next!

Two words...

Tex - Dahlia West

Erotic Enema.

This book is book ended by actual plot. But the ooey-gooey center is all sex and weird shit. Even literal shit.

Only read if you have a strong stomach.

100% Emotion

Control - Charlotte Stein

If you were to take this book and break it down I think the numbers would reflect that it is 90% made up of sexual situations. But it is 100% emotion. Even the sex scenes are fraught with feelings, desires, needs. My limited capability with words cannot do this beautiful piece of erotica justice. The experience is in the reading.

Everyone should read this book.

Unbound - Cara McKenna

Wow, this book has so many layers and the main part of the action takes place over the span of only 4 days. The main over-arching theme, for me, was learning to love yourself. You can change the outside, whether that be weight or location, but until you address your inner self you will never truly change. Oh, and the book was sexy, kinky and hilarious. Just read this book.

I get why it is so popular.

Stripped - Jasinda Wilder

It's a really endearing twist on the poor stripper meets rich hunk trope. The authors writing really sells it though as the details were most engrossing part of the story for me. I enjoyed the main characters so much that towards the end of the book I actually hoped for a sequel. I don't think there will be one as it seems to be a happily ever after, the end finish for this book.

Real BDSM and really sweet too!

Forbidden Obsessions (Bondage & Breakfast #4) - Jodie Griffin

This is not a hardcore BDSM novel. This is a love story with a Dom and a woman exploring her new found submissiveness. It was a delightful romance with a feisty heroine and a man trying to control his desires for her.

It was free. I would have paid.

The Theory of Attraction - Delphine Dryden

Funny, tender and hot. I love books with sexual tension and this one had it in spades. I saw myself in the female lead. Love that she got her man (and Dom!). A great read that will keep you warm on a cold night.

Hard to put down.

Hard As It Gets - Laura Kaye

Saw this as a rec on twitter and thought,"Sure, why not?" Boy, am I glad I clicked that link. This book was so well paced from start to finish. Even the slower parts of the book added to the overall tension, romance or plot. The romance between main characters starts out at a slow burn and heats up before the end. While the ending was happy for them the over-arching mystery part of the story continues in the next book due out February 25th. I'm looking forward to the next installment!

This fucking book about a Man

This Man - Jodi Ellen Malpas

I'm a third through this book. I don't know if I'll get farther. I've had to read from the beginning a few times because it is so forgettable.

Will it never end?

Devil's Pact - Samantha Cruise

Dear God, will this book never end? I don't even know how far I am through this because of the weird formatting. I only read this when I'm feeling particularly masochistic.
